NEWS: The new Magic Trackpad from Apple

Breaking news from Today’s Top Tech, Apple have just released a desktop Magic Trackpad… looks like a fantastic product, at a not too crazy price. Read more…

Exciting news just today as Apple releases it’s desktop Magic Trackpad.

This appears to be a battery powered external mouse replacement (or it can be used in conjunction with a mouse), similar to that of the multi-touch ‘one big button’ trackpads seen on recent Macbook Pro’s. The Magic Trackpad is wireless with Bluetooth connectivity and and runs on two AA batteries.

Size wise the Magic Trackpad is about 80% larger than the ones we’ve grown to love on the Macbook Pro’s, but it’s still made from the same smooth wear-resistant glass, so will feel great to the touch.

I’m personally a huge fan of the Macbook Pro trackpad and find it more useful than a mouse for about 90% of operations during everyday use. So for me, the Magic Trackpad is a very exciting new product.

Apple have actually priced this new device quite sensibly too, at just $69 from their website.

Here’s a snippet from Apple’s website…

The new Magic Trackpad is the first Multi-Touch trackpad designed to work with your Mac desktop computer. It uses the same Multi-Touch technology you love on the MacBook Pro. And it supports a full set of gestures, giving you a whole new way to control and interact with what’s on your screen. Swiping through pages online feels just like flipping through pages in a book or magazine. And inertial scrolling makes moving up and down a page more natural than ever. Magic Trackpad connects to your Mac via Bluetooth wireless technology. Use it in place of a mouse or in conjunction with one.
