Photo to Mac iPhone app review.

Do you sometimes need to quickly transfer just a few photos from your iPhone onto your Mac, but just can’t be bothered to find your usb cable? Well no problem, we found this great little app that will let you transfer your photos over your wi-fi connection. Read on to find out how. .

What does it do?

On the face of it, this is actually a very simple iPhone app. All it does is tranfer photos from your iPhone over to your Mac. What makes it different is that no usb cable is required, no internet connection, no browser, no emails with attachments, all you need is a WiFi connection to your Mac.

What’s the point?

Well, I know it sounds incredibly lazy, but how often have you grabbed your Macbook and a cup of coffee and the end of a busy day, and collapsed into your favourite position on the sofa. You just begin to write a review for Todays Top Tech, and you realise that you have just the photo you need on your iPhone. Now your iPhone is already in your pocket so no need to get up again, BUT oh no, your usb cable is at least 10 feet away, buried in the dining room cupboard somewhere. You just can’t bring yourself to get up again and begin the search for that missing white cable. Well, if you’ve got Photo To Mac installed on your iPhone, you can still transfer your photos over to your Mac without once leaving your sofa. FANTASTIC! Its what I’ve always dreamed of I hear you cry. Read on . . .

Is it easy to use?

It really is so simple to use, once you start the app, it will search your WiFi network looking for Macs, once it finds your Mac, simply select it and it will ask you for your Macs login, once entered, it asks you where you want to put the photoson your Mac, then shows you your iPhone camera roll. Now you can select either a single photo, or multiple photos and click on transfer. It that simple. Then sit back for a few seconds and watch in wonder as your photos travel through the air and magically appear in your Mac.

Sounds to good to be true, How much will it cost?

There are two options. There is actually a free version of the app, so you can try before you buy. The only restriction of the free one is that the photos are only transferred with a max resolution of 480×320. If you then prefer to pay for the full app and transfer you photos in full resolution. That will only set you back £1.19 so it’s well worth it in my opinion.

Today’s Top Tech Review Our overall rating:   3/5

What we liked…

  • Simple app that does what it says on the tin
  • No need to find my usb cable when I just want to transfer a few photos
  • Can transfer multiple photos at once instead of individually
What we weren’t so keen on…
  • Cannot transfer video
  • Would be great if I could set up a default location to put the photos on my mac and not tell the app every time
  • Does not include the EXIF camera info such as date and time shot, but for me personally not a big issue
